Buying Moroccan Pieces Without Visiting: How Remote Sourcing Works

Rug selection shown for inspiration.
Remote sourcing often starts with someone who has already been to Marrakech and wants more of what they found here. Sometimes it is a person abroad who has seen a particular piece and knows what they want.
In both cases, the process is communication. We share pictures, discuss dimensions and arrange video calls until the selection is clear.
Start with what you know
Send the references you have, the product type, dimensions, quantity and budget. Tell us where the goods need to go and whether you are buying for your own home or for a business.
You do not need a perfect description, but you do need to explain what matters to you. If you are replacing or matching a piece, photographs and measurements help us understand the request.
Agree the sourcing work
We discuss what needs to be found and agree a fixed service fee for the enquiry. For remote sourcing, the service fee is paid at booking, before the search begins. We receive no supplier commissions.
The communication and coordination are part of the service you pay for: identifying suitable options, asking questions, sharing information and helping you reach a decision.
The product price and shipping arrangements are discussed separately as part of the purchase.
Review the actual options
We share photographs of suitable pieces, discuss their sizes and answer your questions. Video calls help continue that conversation when you cannot be here yourself.
My starting point is the source. I work with suppliers whose sources I know, and we discuss the materials and work behind the items being considered.
For a rug, that includes questions about wool, weaving, condition and whether it is old or newly made. For ceramics or furniture, the brief and quality questions will be different.
Confirm the selection before merchandise payment
We keep communicating until you confirm the pieces and purchase details. Merchandise payment follows that confirmation.
Depending on the supplier, we may arrange a payment link or provide the supplier's bank details for direct payment. We confirm the recipient and payment arrangement before you pay.
This is an enquiry-led service. Sending a reference does not mean that a particular piece is available or that an order has been placed.
Arrange packing and shipping
After the goods and payment are confirmed, we coordinate packing and shipment. The supplier arranges the shipment, with our coordination and local follow-up. Depending on the order, carrier options may include DHL, Aramex or FedEx; tracking and a signature on delivery are requested.
Fragile goods need a suitable packing plan. Ceramics and lanterns may require protective wooden crates, with the method and cost agreed for the order.
Read what to confirm before shipping purchases home.
A returning visitor looking for more
One client bought a few items during a visit to Marrakech, then contacted us after returning home with a request for specific additional pieces. We found options and negotiated with the supplier. The client reviewed the selection through photographs and video calls before we coordinated packing, shipping and the tracking number.
This is often the clearest starting point: you already know the kind of piece you want, and we handle the conversations and checks here.
Selecting rugs over a video call
For an interior designer looking for around six or seven rugs, we organised a video call directly from the supplier's premises. We measured the pieces and discussed the selection while she reviewed it for her client's project. Once she approved and paid for the goods, shipment followed.
A video call is useful because you can ask questions about the actual options. It does not replace a clear written record of the pieces, dimensions, condition, price and shipping arrangements you approve.
Keep someone on the ground
I remain your local contact for follow-up with the supplier and carrier. Customers can also come back to us when they need more pieces.
I have worked with around ten to twelve professional buyers, including interior designers and people with shops abroad. For them, we look for wholesale suppliers and pricing that makes sense for their project or business, then coordinate the purchase and shipping.
