Shipping Purchases Home from Marrakech: What to Confirm Before Buying

When a visitor is serious about buying, the question changes. It is no longer only about quality or price. It becomes: how will these goods get home, and who will help if something goes wrong?
I have heard that question throughout my work as a guide. For Marrakech Shopping, the service includes being the person here who can follow up with the supplier and the shipping company.
Discuss shipping while comparing the goods
Ask about shipping before you confirm a purchase. A price for a rug, lantern or ceramic collection is not necessarily the full cost of getting it home.
Share the destination, the items you want to buy and any timing requirements. Ask for the goods, packing and shipping costs to be clearly separated or identified in the quote.
Do not assume that two shipping options have the same timing or cover. Those details belong in your individual order confirmation.
Compare the complete shipping quote
Some suppliers have carrier contracts that can make shipping competitive. That does not mean every shipment has the same rate or that we can promise the lowest price. Weight, dimensions, destination, packing and the selected service all affect the quote.
Tell us whether speed or cost matters more. Express and slower options may be available, but the service needs to suit the goods and destination. Compare the complete quote, including protective packing, rather than the carrier charge alone.
Choose packing around the product
Rugs and textiles need suitable wrapping and protection during handling. Ceramics and lanterns need a more protective packing plan. For fragile goods, we discuss protective options, including wooden crates where appropriate. The method depends on the goods and the packing service agreed.
Confirm who will pack the order, what the packing includes and what it costs. For several pieces, make sure the contents of the shipment are recorded clearly.
A wooden crate is a packing method; it should not be treated as a substitute for understanding the carrier's coverage or claims terms.
Confirm the delivery details
Once you have chosen the goods, you provide the delivery address and recipient details to the supplier or shop owner. The supplier arranges the shipment, and Marrakech Shopping helps coordinate it and follows up locally.
Depending on the supplier, destination and order, options may include DHL, Aramex or FedEx. We request tracking and a signature on delivery. The actual carrier, service and expected timing are confirmed for the order.
Before payment, check the delivery address and recipient details. Ask when the parcel is expected to leave, how tracking will be shared and how to contact the person managing the shipment.
Tracking and a signature provide useful delivery information. If a parcel is delayed or damaged, the situation still needs to be investigated.
Keep a local point of contact
I remain here to check with the supplier and carrier. If goods have not arrived, I can follow up on whether they were sent and what is happening with the shipment.
That support also matters for repeat orders. Some customers contact me after a visit because they want another piece or have left a purchase behind. We can discuss the request and what needs to happen next.
Confirm what happens if there is damage
If damage is caused on our side, we replace the item and send a new one. If it is related to the carrier, we communicate with you and investigate the cause and the applicable claims process.
Before purchase, ask what shipping cover applies and who handles a claim. Any compensation or replacement arrangement needs to match the agreed terms; it should not rest on a verbal assumption.
Include customs in the questions
Ask whether the quote includes any destination-country duties or clearance charges, and who is responsible for them. These arrangements need to be confirmed for your order.
We do not give one universal shipping price or delivery time for every product and destination. We discuss the shipment that fits the goods you are buying.
